Since 2013 I’ve spoken at dozens of events, offering thought-provoking and spiritually-rich talks. These keynotes have ranged from hour-long presentations near my home in Washington, DC to multiple-day retreats in other countries. Audiences are usually mixed, often containing church professionals along with those who are disheartened by the institution. Sometimes both types occupy the same seat!
I’ve been ordained since 1990 and cut my teeth on preaching the gospel, which I calculate I’ve done more than 800 times. Two related areas of passion have chosen me and won’t let go: 1) the spiritual discipline of pilgrimage, including Holy Land pilgrimage; and 2) the church’s (usually ineffective) response to sexual abuse and sexual harassment. I care deeply about serving people of faith, especially those affected by sexual violence. Join me in calling for greater accountability for perpetrators, and a more compassionate response to survivors.
