#21 Lent Pilgrimage, Thirst

Friday after Third Sunday in Lent

Jesus said to her, “Everyone who drinks of this water will be thirsty again.” ~John 4:13

The Dead Sea is so full of salt that swimmers float like rubber ducks and must be careful not to splash each other’s faces. Anywhere the skin is broken your body says, “Ow, ow, ow” as the salt enters, even the wounds you didn’t know you had. People say this stinging salt is healing. The buoyancy is intoxicating. As I bob in the water, I study the whitened ridges that rim this sea that offers no relief to the thirsty.

Can you recall a time of great thirst?

Prayer: Creator God, slake my thirst.
