I’m Ruth Everhart, an award-winning author, writer and pastor. My life’s work has been to wrestle the complexities of a faith journey onto the page. My conservative, church-centered upbringing was designed to give me all the answers, which worked (more or less) until a traumatic event catapulted me into free-fall. It took a decade, but I discovered that I could be furious about outrageous things and still love Jesus!
Now I’m a pastor serving the Hermon Presbyterian Church in the Washington, DC area. In addition to many articles, I’ve written two spiritual memoirs.
RUINED is my story of recovering faith after sexual assault.
CHASING THE DIVINE IN THE HOLY LAND takes the reader along on my transformative pilgrimage to the Holy Land.
My most recent work responds to the #MeToo movement, about which I’m passionate. Check out the “Articles” tab above.
I frequently speak and lead workshops. Use the “Contact” tab if you’d like me to speak to your group.
